It's a New Year! This is a good time to do a Marketing Audit.

I walked into the local market today and noticed that a lot of people were buying totes and storage bins to start their new year by clearing away some of the clutter in their lives. With that same process in mind, I suggest you do the same for your marketing plan in your business. I call it a Marketing Audit.

It is a simple process, but it does take a little time and some thought. Here's how it works:

The 20,000 ft. View:

Take a minute to gather all the printed materials and marketing collateral and list out all your online marketing pieces.

  • Are all your pieces branded, is there integration in your marketing? Does it all work together?

  • Is your messaging consistent? Does it look like the same company or is it a little all over the place?

  • Are you posting consistently on social media and is it relevant? Do you have a Social Channel Management plan?

  • Does your marketing reflect where your company is at now?

If you answered no to any of these questions, then it may be time to update your marketing and make sure it grows with your company.

Recommendations:

1. Take a look at other or similar companies, what are they doing? Do you like it?

2. List out what you like about your branding. Get feedback from your customers.

3. Refresh your branding--don't completely redo your branding. Take small steps and don't lose the brand identity and loyalty that you have worked hard to build up.

Remember, the best thing you can do for your marketing and branding is to be consistent. Integration across all of your marketing collateral (making sure your branding is across all avenues of marketing) is the key to that consistency. Your company growth is directly tied to how well your marketing is performing, let's make sure it is working as hard as you need it to in this new year...and maybe we should grab a couple of those totes.

All the best,

Kelle
